Kosher Sugar and Ethanol

Kosher means “fit” or “proper”, and refers to all food that complies with the Biblical and Talmud rules of Jewish dietary law. It is carried out in production plants by a certification company supervisor and guarantees that products meet the required rules and regulations. Kashrut laws establish the food that is adequate for Jewish consumption. Throughout history, observance of Kashrut has been a signature of the Jewish identity. Perhaps even more than any other "Mitzvah", the Kashrut laws emphasize that Judaism is much more than a religion in the conventional sense of the word. For Judaism, holiness is not confined to holy moments or places; life in its entirety is holy. The Kashrut laws have several benefits: health benefits, the humane treatment of animals, the unifying effect for a peoples dispersed, and its role as shield against assimilation.

Today, kosher cooking has become easier thanks to the variety of available products in the market that make this a spiritually enriching and pleasant experience.

ISCC

The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) is one of the most important certification systems to highlight our commitment as an environmentally responsible company. ISCC’s objective is to establish a practical and transparent internationally oriented system for the certification of biomass and bioenergy. ISCC is oriented towards:

  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Sustainable use of land
  • Protection of natural biospheres
  • Social sustainability

Taboga achieved this certification on December 30th, 2010, becoming the first in Latin America to obtain it.

Organic NOP and EU

The National Organic Program (NOP) is part of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and BCS was accredited in 2002. According to NOP standards, the certification entitles the company to use the USDA NOP organic seal, subject to the observance of rule and regulation requirements. A certified product’s entire food chain, when intended for sale in the United States market must be certified according to NOP standards. This includes raw material producers, processors and sometimes also retailers.

The United States organic production market grows every year and has become one of the main markets for organic products. The United States has reached organic product commercial agreements with several countries such as the EU, Japan and others. However, companies located in countries without a trade agreement with the United States must be certified in accordance with the NOP in order to export their organic products to the United States. Certification of organic production in conformity with the NOP’s organic product standards authorizes us to sell our products in the United States market as organic, as well as to label them with the USDA NOP seal.

FSSC 22000

The FSSC 22000 certificate is widely acknowledged by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and is based on current ISO standards. The FSSC 22000 proves that Taboga possesses a robust food safety management system, and complies with our client and consumer requirements. It also determines integrated process requirements that work together to control and minimize food safety risks. The certificate is based on the internationally accepted ISO standard for food safety audit and legitimization in the food and beverage production sector. It uses current ISO 22000, ISO 22002-1 standards, and the FSSC 22000’s additional requirements. The FSSC 22000 reflects our organization’s efforts in adhering to the system and our commitment to its continuous performance improvement.

Accreditation

ISO: 17025 Quality Laboratory

The ISO 17025 standard provides the necessary requirements that testing and calibration laboratories must meet, enabling the harmonization of quality standards. Its main objective is to guarantee analytical results’ technical competence and reliability. The standard includes both Process and Technical requirements that influence quality of work improvement in laboratories. This fosters the creation of collective knowledge enabling personnel integration and an in-depth knowledge of the organization’s core, as well as providing flexibility in adapting to needs and environment changes. These requirements are employed as tools for the dissemination of a collective knowledge that enables personnel integration, provides flexibility for adapting to changes in the environment and can detect problems in order to solve them in advance. Finally, the Laboratory’s Accreditation will be the formal acknowledgement of its Technical competence and capacity to carry out specific analyses.
