Since 2011, Taboga has been working in its environmental Management Plan, an instrument that establishes the actions to measure, control, offset, prevent, and reduce the negative impact on the environment from human activities through a process of continuous improvement.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Air
In Taboga we do an adequate treatment of gas boiler emissions by:
Ensuring that our gas boiler emissions are within the quality parameters set by national standards.
We reduce cane-burning emissions by:
Increasing the unburned areas each year, going from 3% in the 17-18 harvest to 28% in the 18-19 harvest, 72% in 20-21 harvest and a projection of 80% in 21-22 harvest.
Biodiversity
Our objective is to maintain or increase the biodiversity of natural systems by:
- Developing a list of flora and fauna.
- Mapping wildlife crossing zones.
- Designing vegetation connectivity areas.
- Creating a reforestation plan for the connectivity areas defined.
Soil
We minimize erosion through:
Minimum tillage to reduce the amount of soil that is moved in farming activities.
We dispose of solid waste adequately by:
Separating and disposing of solid waste.
We reduce the negative impact on the physical chemical properties of the soil:
Through the use of new products and mechanical, manual or biological weed control, we have reduced the chemical load from 11 kg to 4 kg of active ingredients per hectare.
Water
Our objective is to control consumption through efficient irrigation systems by:
- Maintaining infrastructure to avoid leakage.
- Increasing annual hectarage with efficient irrigation systems by 480.
We reduce the industrial water consumption by:
- Replacing with technologies that enable 15% savings in water consumption.
We have proper wastewater treatment:
- Achieving zero discharge by reusing 100% of treated water in irrigation.
